| Monsieur Beaucaire premiered August 18, 1924.
After the exhausting Mineralava Tour and the exhausting litigation with
Lasky/Paramount, Valentino returned more or less on his terms to the
studio to complete his contractual obligations. Monsieur
Beaucaire, while lavish and well made, it was not what the fans were
expecting.
Monsieur Beaucaire has gotten a bad rap over the years, while very
different from the Valentino norm, it does showcase his subtle talent at
comedy, and as usual, provides a nice dressing scene of Valentino!
