In the silent era, as well as today, a poster is
used to advertise and create a buzz for a film. In the 1920s some
of the most beautiful stone-litho art came off the presses in and around
Cleveland, Ohio. Today, posters and lobby cards from this era are
sought after as collector and investment items. To collect silent
era posters on big name stars such as Valentino, Fairbanks, Pickford,
Chaplin, one must have very deep pockets. Shown here are some samples
of the poster and lobby art produced for Valentino's films.
